In this episode Mike Salemi of KettlebellLifestyle.com shares with Justin of Mind Pump, 2 Drills to improve your kettlebell swing. Two commonly asked questions: How much depth should I have in my Kettlebell swing? How low should my kettlebell swing be? - Keep as close under the body as possible - Once you connect the forearms to the pelvis, you feed the kettlebell right underneath the crotch - Remember to feed the kettlebell behind the body - This allows you to load the posterior chain correctly What is the optimal back angle for my kettlebell swing? - 10 o'clock and 4 o'clock = optimal mechanics Drill #1 - Touch the wall - 6-8 inch step forward - Get into your swing stance - Root through the ground - Feel the full connection between the feet and the floor - Use your hands as a karate kid - Chop the hips - Push your butt back until you feel contact with the wall - Find a good distance for you ------- - Grab a stick - One hand behind the neck - Bottom hand you'll feed through the small of the low back - 3 points of contact #1 - Back of the head #2 - Upper Back #3 - Area of the tailbone Maintain same distance using the width of the hand.
