Tangmere storms Crofton on 'The West Somerset Steam Express' - 29/09/12

SR Un-rebuilt Battle Of Britain Class 4-6-2 no.34067 'Tangmere' hauls the last of the 2012 London Paddington to Minehead to London Paddington trips entitled 'The West Somerset Steam Express'. Today's trip would see her doubling heading with the WSR's S&DJR Class 7F no.88 on the Bishops Lydeard to Minehead and back leg, recreating scenes from the days of the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway. I decided to go to Crofton to see her, although I should probably start looking for new locations along the Berks & Hants as this is the third time I've seen Tangmere at Crofton in the space of three months. To my surprise the Crofton Pumping Station was having an open day with an array of traction engines present. Had I known before had I would've arrived earlier to get into a spot where I could pan with Tangmere to them. Onto the shot itself now as Tangmere is seen storming up the gradient to Savernake resplendent with GWR reporting numbers reading Z85, which is unusual for a Bulleid, she also exchanges whistles with the traction engines down the bottom. I've found out the reason for reporting number Z85 was because scrapped classmate 34064 'Fighter Command' also carried that code on a Talyllyn Special from London Paddington in 1963.
